Popularity of Canaries/Finches in Singapore ....

Postby SimonAropac » Sat Mar 28, 2009 11:30 pm

Recently into the above ,however it seems very little was discussed about them in local forumn.

Had to search into malaysian and other countries' website to read and find out more about them.

Surprising there are still plenty of canaries and finches lovers in Singapore as good birds are almost immediately snap up once they reaches the bird shops. Some typical species are the Black Throat Finches and Timbrado Canaries etc....

Yellow eye finches and grey finch are also common nowadays and you can even see them in daily bird singing arenas like AMK 440 and weekend AMK 159.

So where are these hobbyist? Care to come in and share your beloved pets and offer us tips on upkeeping of these birds and maybe breeding programme as well.

So calling all Finches/Canary lovers, come on in and share your hobby and experience..

To start off , i show-off my Red siskin named RED-APPLE ... Enjoy and coments welcome .

I an jealous of the cage your bird is in !!! Is there a site on the net I can order one that you know of ? I have always read in alot of Canary literiture that keeping Canaries in bamboo /wooden cages is impractical % against the bird's health but there is always 2 sides to every coin ... Most Canaries I have seen in bamboo cages here in Houston are singing off the top of their lungs , which we Canary lovers know is a sign of good health . What suprises me is that in the past in Europe , thousands of generations of Canaries have been raised in wooden cages & have been able to proliferate at a suprising rate into many varieties & colors . I believe it is all to the host/keeper of the bird . If the keeper/host is a lazy person , & neglects daily chores( as if they can be called chores ) of changing the cage papers ; cleaning out water & food bowls ; replacing feed ; wiping off perches ; etc ; than the bird will be in bad shape no matter how healthy he was before he ended up in thee care of a lazy owner . Thanks for the pix post ! :)
